Today we took Jack for his 1 month checkup with Dr. Porter. As usual I brought my prepared list of questions for the doctor. Jack has been quite fussy the past few days but any number of things could contribute to his fussiness (colic, reflux, and/or our recent change of his formula). Last night Mommy only got around 3 hours of sleep - give or take an hour. He was fussing last night and nothing could console him, not even being held (which always works) so it was a long night - he wasn't crying, just kind of whimpering on the verge of crying. I told the Dr. about it and she said that it was probably the formula change but then also asked about his reflux medication. Turns out the Dr. we saw a few weeks ago, prescribed enough daily medication for a 1 yr old. He was having us give Jack 2mL twice a day whereas she would prefer .3mL twice a day - quite a difference! So we are weening him back this week. She said that the medication could have been affecting the balance of acid in is tummy - poor guy! Let's hope he (and I) gets more sleep tonight!
Other than that, we had a great appointment! She said Jack is doing great! Per his measurements, Jack is measuring bigger (not a surprise seeing as he is in 3 month clothes). He also got his 2nd Hep B shot.
Weight: 11lb 3oz - 77th percentile
Length: 23 1/4 in - 99th percentile (he's longer than 99% of other babies)
Head Circumference: 15 1/4in - 91st percentile
And his length and weight are proportional to his size.
His next appointment will be in a month and he'll get most of his vaccinations- I'm excited because then I'll be able to bring him out and about more, Right now I don't want to bring him out in public much or around crowds because I don't want him to get sick. Could you imagine? A sick baby AND colic AND reflux?? Nightmare. So for now, we are going to stay in for a bit.
Storytime with Jack - he likes looking at the pictures and it's good for his development.
